UPSTAGED INFORMATION UPDATE- COURSES & PERFORMANCE CLASSES

The theme for Upstaged this year is DANCING THROUGH TIME! This means each performance will be themed to a decade from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, or NOW.

There is an awesome story brewing to join all of these together to make an awesome performance piece entertaining to watch and fun to perform in!

Performance courses and classes are starting from the beginning of April. Further info available at Reception.

CLASS (pays in class week to week)
COURSE (pays course fee of $110 for 8 hours course, payable upfront at first session)

ALL STUDENTS pay a SHOWCASE FEE of $50 (payable by April 30th at reception)
This includes your ticket to watch, a show t-shirt, and contributes to the cost of putting on the show.

Our special guests for UPstaged 2014 are the legendary Honey J and Stagger from Korea!

They are going to be here for 1 week to teach workshops, perform at UPstaged and also teach a course for dancers to share the stage with them! As our special guests, we highly recommend them and we know their workshops will be phenomenal! Just check out their stuff and then come down and take the opportunity to dance with them!

Honey J and Stagger will be chooing people to join the showcase course from the monday and tuesday workshops. They will then do showcase rehersals on wed 21st – fri 23rd.

3 workshops $75
4+ workshops $20 each

on the day:
$35 for 1 workshop.

Sophie’s 2 Week Tap MiniCourse starting tomorrow!
Come down and check it out! 2:00pm 6th and 13th April! It’s for beginners, no exprience and shoes needed!

Sophie’s Tap Skills:
Sophie started tapping at the age of 5. Sophie quickly found a love for the footwork of Tap winning many Competitions and Scholarships. Sophie has completed her Les Griffith Tap Dance Academy (L.G.T.D.A) Exams to the Gold Medal Level all with Distinctions giving her the values of timing, rhythm and stage techniques.
Sophie continues to Tap Dance and would love to share with the Dance Community!

Cuban Salsa 6 Week Course with Dan and Sally

You may of seen Dan teach at XO this year as an excellent hip hop dancer. But you may not know his other passion is salsa dance! An accomplished Salsa dancer, he and his dance partner Sally are going to be doing a 6 week course to teach xo people all about it. Last year he did an awesome one off workshop that was crazy good! Now we encourage those who attended last time and newcomers to to check out this course! Bring a friend, partner up and let’s salsa!

During this course you will lean:
Dance and feel of basic salsa footwork
Understand ‘La clave’, the basic musicality of Salsa
The lead and follow
Basic ‘Rueda’ patterns
and put these foundations together in a salsa routine.

Fridays
7:00 – 8:30 (90 minute class)
Starting March 7th
$80 for 1 person full course
or bring a partner and get both for $140
